What is your morning routine?
6:30am: Wake up with the sunrise.
6:45am: Review the day ahead hour by hour and briefly visualize how I can over-deliver based on the goals of each meeting and conversation.
7:00am: Respond to messages from my team and distribute tasks to focus each department on the necessary short- and long-term priorities according to our goals.
8:00am: Get ready. Have outfit ready the night before so I can be more efficient in the morning.
8:30am: Head to first meeting by Uber. Respond to messages from our users along the way. I love staying in touch and receiving their feedback.
9:00am: Offsite meeting, usually with an influencer, partner, or investor. Build ongoing, genuine relationships by spending time together in collaboration.
10:00am: Head to Mogul HQ in NYC.
How long have you stuck with this routine so far?
This routine started when Mogul first launched, so two years. I have been consistent with it ever since.
How has your morning routine changed over recent years?
I try to streamline my routine and processes to ensure I have as much clear headspace as possible for the day ahead. At the moment, I am trying to shift my exercise regimen, which I usually do at night, to the morning in order to inject even more energy into my day.
What time do you go to sleep?
Typically, around 2:30-3:00am. There are always so many exciting things happening, so it can be difficult to go to sleep!
Do you do anything before going to bed to make your morning easier?
I like to start the morning with a clean slate, ready to continue our mission at Mogul. To make that possible, I clear up as much of my inbox as possible the night before, answering every message as needed, thereby teeing up the next day for success and further streamlining my morning schedule.
Do you use an alarm to wake you up in the morning, and if so do you ever hit the snooze button?
I rarely use an alarm because I tend to wake up with the sunrise. I never hit the snooze button. It’s important to feel inspired for the day ahead.
How soon after waking up do you have breakfast, and what do you typically have?
I do not typically have breakfast. But if I do, it’s usually because I’m taking a team member out in order to stay connected on both a personal and professional level. We usually have breakfast sandwiches, such as whole wheat wraps with eggs and ham, and orange juice.
Do you have a morning workout routine?
I usually exercise at night: ten minutes on the treadmill, ten minutes of weights, and ten minutes of sit-ups.
When I do exercise in the morning, I’ll do a thirty-minute jog in Central Park.
Do you have a morning meditation routine?
I do not meditate. I’m known to have a naturally calm temperament and I do not stress out very often. I always try to be over prepared for the moment, whatever it may be that I am trying to accomplish, so that I can maintain a kind and calm composure.
Do you answer email first thing in the morning or leave it until later in the day?
I answer email first thing in the morning and last thing at night. It helps me to foster a clear perspective.
Do you use any apps or products to enhance your sleep or morning routine?
I usually drink green tea at night. I also have a mattress from Casper, which has helped me to truly enhance my sleep in the past year.
How soon do you check your phone in the morning?
I check my phone throughout the morning to ensure I’m as communicative as possible with our team. Half of our executive team is composed of early birds and half is composed of night owls.
What and when is your first drink in the morning?
Water, with lemon.
Do you also follow this routine on weekends, or do you change some steps?
I also maintain this routine throughout the weekend (I don’t sleep in on weekends. I often have calls with international parties on weekend mornings). I love my company, and enjoy spending time on it throughout the weekend as well.
On days you’re not settled in your home, are you able to adapt your routine to fit in with a different environment?
I frequently travel to San Francisco and Paris, where we also have Mogul offices, or other cities worldwide. Wherever I may be, I maintain the same routine.
What do you do if you fail to follow your morning routine, and how does this influence the rest of your day?
If I inadvertently stray from my morning routine, I recover throughout the day by staying present and in the moment, and still over-delivering on each task ahead.
